March 27 learning review

With the corona virus pandemic, I was thinking back to all of the previous days that we were in school this current year. I can remember the beginning of the school year and how I was excited to learn a lot more than I had already knew about the study of film making. At the beginning of the year, we had learned and talked about all of the ways to have scene in a movie jump to the next scene in that movie. I still remember a lot of the cut scenes. Some of them are wipe, cut, iris, fade in, fade out, different types of dissolving, jump cut, invisible cut, and also some sounds can create a transition. When we were well versed on all of the types of transitions in film, we then started to learn about cameras and some of the different types of the angle that are pretty popular. We were watching videos of the different types so that we wouldn’t forget them easily, we were all so taught about how you can change the resolution on the DSLR cameras. After we were taught about the cameras, we could then start to use them by practicing the different angles, I thought that the most important rule of the camera angels was lead room or nose room. This was what had the subject or person on the far left side of the frame and as they walked to the right, the camera would move with them giving them the proper lead room that was necessary. Once we had learned how to do it on the cameras, we then shot our six word stories. These were stories that were told in six words, or in our case six shots. Once we had shot those, we went to computers and downloaded the footage.
